My Story
Starting Over at 70:
From Wheelchair to Walking Again
From a wheelchair to walking again. From isolation to rebuilding. This is my story โ honest, unfinished, and full of hope.

The Wheelchair
Not long ago, I was in a wheelchair. A severe potassium deficiency caused nerve damage throughout my body. Doctors weren't sure I'd walk again.
The pain was constant. Simple things โ standing up, holding a cup, walking to the bathroom โ became battles. I spent days wondering if this was how the rest of my life would look.
But somewhere inside me, a voice kept saying: not yet. You're not done.
The Recovery
Step by step, through physical therapy and sheer determination, I started to walk again. There's still some wobble โ I won't pretend otherwise. But I'm standing. I'm moving. I'm rebuilding.
Recovery from nerve damage isn't linear. Some days are good. Some days my legs remind me where I've been. But every day I choose to keep going.
โI'm not asking for comfort โ I'm working toward stability. I'm still learning, still building, and still believing this next chapter can be peaceful and purposeful.โ

Learning New Skills at 70
While recovering, I enrolled at Los Angeles City College. This semester I'm taking four courses: Advanced Excel, Personal Finance, College Composition, and Health Literacy.
Not because I have to โ because I believe in building skills that create real independence. I'm preparing for remote work in office administration and customer service. At 70, I'm still a student. Still growing. ๐
Why Tennessee
My daughter and grandchildren live in Tennessee. My grandchildren are in 9th and 7th grade โ at an age where having their grandmother nearby matters. Every holiday, every birthday, I'm watching from a screen.
This isn't just a relocation. It's a family reunion. It's about being present for the people I love while I still can. Getting home isn't a luxury โ it's a lifeline. You can learn more about my housing and relocation plan here. ๐
What Comes Next
I'm applying for subsidized senior housing near Nashville. I'm building skills for remote work. I'm documenting every step publicly โ the wins and the setbacks โ because transparency matters.
I don't need a rescue. I need a bridge. And with your help, I'll cross it.
